'Voices on Canvas' selected for premiere Art show

10 canvases painted by students who attended the Future Leaders Conference (FLC) 2009 were selected for display at the 'Colombo Art Biennale 2009' from the 10th - 14th of September at the Park Street Mews, Colombo 2. The event was organised by international artist Annoushka Hempel, along with art curator Saskia Fernando. The theme of the Biennale was 'Imagining Peace'.

The canvases were part of the 'Voices on Canvas' segment at the youth conference where the teams, each comprising a diverse mix of youth of various ethnicities and regions, voiced their thoughts on reconciliation and the future of Sri Lanka through art. The groups successfully communicated pressing social issues through well thought-out illustrations accompanied by evocative narratives.
